Roots
I've spent a lot of time dreaming bout another day
Choices to be made, I'll decide along the way
I'd like to make a change, but I know I probably won't
I'll talk myself into loving all these things I don't
It's not that I'm not satisfied with all this work I do
Something to be proud of, to work the whole day through
Sun's gonna rise, each and every day
Thirty years of living, I'm still trying to find my way
Dreaming bout some big old city far away from home
Wishing I could bum around and walk the streets alone
Sock it all away, save it for a rainy day
If I live to be a hundred, I'll still have bills to pay
Just when I think I'll pack my things and go
That old familiar voice inside me just says no
The company I keep, my work, and family
They might tie me down but they lift me up, like the roots under a tree
Stop dreaming bout some big old city far away from home
Wishing I could bum around and walk the streets alone
Sock it all away, save it for a rainy day
If I live to be a hundred, I'll still have bills to pay
With a chance to live life over, I'd do it all this way
Cause nothing last forever, and nothing's here to stay
